The Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics is a center for research and education at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the following fields: computer science, health informatics, bioinformatics, mathematics, statistics, chemistry, biochemistry, applied physics and geology.

As part of the Health Sciences Center of the country's premiere university, the University of the Philippines Manila, the department offers courses such as B.S. Computer Science, B.S. Biochemistry, B.S. Applied Physics (Health Physics), and M.S. Health Informatics Major in Bioinformatics.

Since its establishment in 1991, DPSM has always strived to maintain its standing as an academic center of excellence committed to globally-competitive and socially-relevant education and research in science and mathematics.

In line with its firm commitment to increase awareness, interest and appreciation of the various fields of science and mathematics, DPSM will be holding Science Week 2016 this April 4 - 8, 2016 with the theme Halalan 2016: New Technologies, the key to a Transparent and Credible Electoral Process.
